On 30 April 2003, Pacific Healthcare and leading business space solutions provider, Ascendas Pte Ltd, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate as preferred partners on expansion projects in the Asia Pacific region.

The synergy between the two partners goes well beyond the common “Chong” in the names of their respective leaders. In his speech at the ceremony, Dr William Chong, Managing Director of Pacific Healthcare, said: ‘You may be wondering why two companies from very different industries decided to form an alliance. This alliance allows both companies to embrace new challenges while remaining focused on our individual core competencies. On the one hand, you have Ascendas, known for its quality infrastructure developments such as high tech science and industrial parks across the region. On the other, is Pacific Healthcare, an emerging integrated healthcare provider comprising a group of medical professionals. Together, we form a strategic fit, harnessing each other’s different but complementary strengths.

Echoing the significant strategic partnership, Ms Chong Siak Ching, President & CEO of Ascendas, said: “We both share the common aim of expanding our presence and extending our expertise out of Singapore to the high growth Asia Pacific region, and while doing so, bring about a higher quality environment and a higher quality of life for our respective customers.”

The partnership between the two organisations has already moved into active collaboration. Pacific Healthcare has appointed Ascendas to manage and oversee their nursing home development at Bukit Panjang as well as two other major projects - the redevelopment of Adam Road Hospital and an integrated facility comprising of a women’s and children’s hospital - a cord blood stem cell bank and biomedical research centre in Hyderabad, India.

As part of the strategic alliance, Pacific Healthcare will provide healthcare services to Ascendas staff.
