Age Management
Age management medicine deals with changes that come about as a result of ageing. Conventional medicine is disease focused whilst age management medicine no longer accepts that a decline of function and disease should be part of ageing. Functional complaints such as lethargy, weight gain, decreased muscle mass, decline in sexual interest or function, poor skin, hair or nails may be due to declining hormones. Ageing is also associated with diseases such as hypertension, heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease and osteoporosis.

Profiling Your Health
This is a detailed and comprehensive screening to find out how well you are ageing, if any of your complaints are related to hormonal changes seen with ageing, if you are at risk of disease. Once your health is profiled, steps can then be taken to stem the ravages of ageing, prevent disease and improve how you feel.

Menopause Management
Menopause is associated with many physical complaints. It is also important to remember that chronic risk increases from the time of the menopause. Holistic management of the menopause allows better symptom control as well as healthier ageing. Bioidentical hormone replacement is used instead of conventional synthetic hormone replacement.

Andropause Management
Unlike menopause the onset of andropause is more insidious. Symptoms such as lethargy, weight gain (especially around the middle), reduced libido, erectile dysfunction, depression and reduced motivation are common symptoms seen in men who face a decline in testosterone levels. Andropause is also associated with increased risk of diabetes, heart disease, strokes and osteoporosis.

Weight Management
Difficulties with weight maintenance may be due to chronic dieting, hormonal deficiencies or incorrect nutrient intake. A detailed history, physical examination together with blood investigations allow for a more targeted weight loss to achieve not only an ideal and sustained weight loss but also reduction in disease risk.

Antenatal Care
Expert care throughout your pregnancy to ensure a safe pregnancy

Foetal Viability Scan - 6 to 10 weeks
Using trans-vaginal ultrasound, we are able to determine if the pregnancy is situated within the uterus and progressing as it should. It can also be used to exclude an early pregnancy failure, identify multiple pregnancies and determine a more accurate expected delivery date. The scan is recommended for all pregnancies for accurate dating and also for women who are experiencing bleeding or cramps in pregnancy or have had previous miscarriages or ectopic pregnancies.

Nuchal Translucency Scan - 11 to 14 weeks
The Nuchal Translucency Scan is a non-invasive ultrasound scan that is usually coupled with maternal blood levels of two pregnancy hormones. This is done to provide a First Trimester Screen for Down Syndrome with a 80 to 90% accuracy rate. It is recommended for women who want a non-invasive means of risk assessment for Down Syndrome.

Foetal Anomaly Scan - 16 to 24 weeks
Major structural abnormalities occur in 2 to 3% of all pregnancies irrespective of maternal age. A detailed scan examines the structures within the developing fetus. Emphasis is placed on the brain, face, spine, heart, stomach, kidneys and limbs.

Foetal Well-being Scan - 24 to 42 weeks
This scan assesses fetal growth and health.
